The best places to hang out in the sun in Glasgow

It's finally sunny and it's been sunny for more than a few days which means we need to take advantage of it before it disappears and starts snowing again. If you're popping to Glasgow for a few days and needing some suggestions on where to lap up the sun, then check out our quick guide on where to hang out in the sun in the city centre. Alternatively, if you're more pavements than parks, the city is full of cafes and restaurants that let you dine out on the street to lap up the good weather.

Kelvingrove Park

Where to sit

If you fancy seeing every man and his dog sit on the central slope, where there'll be plenty of BBQs, drinks and tapless men.  Looking for something a little more quiet? Head down to the water to sit along the river and you'll have a little more privacy.

Where to eat

If the aforementioned BBQ is not your style then maybe you should grab an ice cream from one of the vans which you'll hear tinkling through the park. Alternatively, you can pop into the cute An Clachan cafe and pick up breakfast (for less than £3) a cup of tea and brownie (for about £5) , normally for a fairly reasonable price.

What to do

The bandstand seems to be alive and kicking this summer with loads of cool events and musicians making an appearance on the Kelvingrove stage. We are particularly excited about Sister Sledge although I'm pretty sure the whole area will be buzzing  with stuff nearly the whole summer. On a more regular basis, the whole park is open for sunbathing, playing frisbee, slack lining, roller blading or even hopping into the skate park on a board (if that's your style).

Botanic Gardens

Where to sit

Somewhat more upmarket (is it it's proximity to Waitrose that makes it somehow feel the classier of the West End parks?), bring a blanket and lay yourself down on the central grassy area in front of the green houses. You'll be in the sun all day.

Where to eat

A picnic duh.

What to do

Lay in the sun, read a book or walk around the greenhouses checking out the flowers. Relax in Botanics - if you want a bit of adventure, head down to the river and join the many other joggers.

Inn Deep

Where to sit

Outside, on the picnic benches in the sun. Inn Deep is a mini sun catcher, in that you can bathe yourself while enjoying the surroundings of Kelvinbridge and a fairly reasonably priced pint. What's not to love?

Where to eat

Inn Deep does some pretty tasty burgers

What to do

Watch people pass by the river and enjoy the sun with a pint of draft beer in your hand.
